All models
It is recommended to have the first time installation done by a professional, so that your driving safety is maintained in any case. The sensors should be mounted on suitable metal valves, so that the sensor does not protrude from the tyre’s rim. When neccessary (i.e. for passenger cars and motorbikes), tyres should be balanced after installation of sensors.
Sensors are marked with their respective wheel position (FL=front left, FR=front right, RR=rear right, RL=rear left) and must be screwed onto the correct wheel (valve).
Each TireMoni knows its corresponding sensors. Calibration or assigning the sensors to the display unit is not required.
In most EU countries the law requires that nothing protrudes out of the tyre contours. With their 20 mm height the sensors are longer than regular valve caps and in some cases they would protrude if screwed onto the regular valves. In those cases have your tyre shop install short valves (e.g. TR412, 33 mm in length). With some hubcaps however the holes for the valves are too small for fitting the Checkair sensor; in this case TireMoni cannot be fitted or the wheelcover needs to be changed. Your local tyre shop will advise you of the appropriate solution.
The law requires that nothing protrudes out of the tyre contours. Should you notice that the Checkair sensors protrude from the tyre after screwing them onto the valve, have your tyre shop install short valves and make sure that the sensors remain inside the tyre contour. Disregarding this law automatically voids the operating license for TireMoni and tpm-systems AG disclaims any liability for consequences caused by disregarding this requirement.
In addition it is recommended that tyres should be balanced with the sensors installed.
Every TireMoni model must use their suitable replacement sensors. Every replacement sensor is pre-programmed for a wheel position, so you need to specify the wheel position with your order. The easiest way to identify the suitable replacement sensor for your TireMoni is by using our Sensor Selection Guide. You can download it in pdf format with the following link: TireMoni Sensor Selection Guide
TireMoni only recognizes its own sensors. It is not possible to display or learn sensors of other TireMonis. In case a sensor is lost, using a ‘neighbour’s’ sensor is not possible. (see also: What happens in case a sensor gets lost?)
This is correct: The tool (allen wrench or flat wrench for some serials) is required to remove the anti theft protection.
Consider however: Thanks to TireMoni you know exactly, when it is necessary to check and inflate your tyres. No more guesses…
Please check with your local tyre shop. During a regular tyre replacement (only when fitting new ones) changing valves is included in the installation price. In this case the valves are replaced in any case and at that occasion short valves can be fitted just as well.
TireMoni TM-260
TM-260 can be configured such that either the composition (4-wheels of the tractor/car plus 2 wheels of the trailer) can be shown or that only the 4 wheels of the tractor/car are shown.
Configuration is changeable via menu keys; the procedure is described in the TM-260 manual.
Depending on the selected car type sensor-ID’s are corresponding with wheel positions according to the following tables:
1) Car Type 1 (4 wheels):
Sensor 1: front left
Sensor 2: front right
Sensor 3: rear left
Sensor 4: rear right
2) Car Type 2 (6 wheels – three axles):
Sensor 1: front left
Sensor 2: front right
Sensor 3: middle left
Sensor 4: middle right
Sensor 5: rear left
Sensor 6: rear right
3) Car Type 3 (6 wheels – rear axle twin wheels):
Sensor 1: front left
Sensor 2: front right
Sensor 3: rear left outer
Sensor 4: rear left inner
Sensor 5: rear right inner
Sensor 6: rear right inner
When installing on twin wheels especially for the inner tyres make sure that a suitable valve extension is used. Plastic extensions and so called pressure-less extensions are not fit for the job at all.
Valve extensions need to be fixed or clamped down at the sensor end. Your tyre professional will know which type of clamps to use.
